A full agenda is coming soon! In the meantime, here are a few sessions to look forward to:
Getting facts out of clients and witnesses can be like extracting a molar from an alligator with a secret agenda or like chasing a balloon through a noisy wind tunnel. Sara Maeglin has experience doing both, and she’s great at talking to clients and witnesses about the facts of a case. Learn from her at the PELA Retreat as she demonstrates her techniques live on audience members.
When we asked Chris Houk, who just won a jury verdict in Phoenix, what he wanted to speak about, he said “feel free to say no because it is on wellness, but...” We didn’t need to read more, we knew it was an immediate yes. Chris is speaking about wellness practice to get the mindset needed for elite performance. Surveying physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual practices from professional athletes, politicians, and other high-achieving lawyers, Chris is delivering information that will help you with the right frame of mind under pressure. Chris has spoken at the retreat before, and we’re excited to have him back.
It’s tough to put much faith in the federal government right now, sorry EEOC lawyers reading this, but there are a whole bunch of state legal claims that cover almost everything forming the basis of claims you could file with the EEOC, OSHA, and the NLRB. Rachel Ellis and Mari Newman will cover the state laws that, for now at least, are the cheat code to an otherwise rigged game.
Clay Wire is discussing damage mitigation. Clay has made dry subject material fun in the past, we’re counting on him to do it again here. Damage mitigation is important.
